It is the very best book in describing the thought processes during the actual composing process! Webb also gives readers a glimpse into the professional music world. Webb teaches and entertains at the same time and obviously writes with the experience of many years of actually being a song writer a very sucessfull one at thatrather than a commercial tutorial book writer.

I’ve read a number of music theory, production, and songwriting books that I just couldn’t put down. The book is packed with really useful advice about songwriting technique, and the songwriting business, from a seasoned professional.

So forget about it. The sections on the music business are dated the book was published in but still interesting in a “my, how quickly the world changes” way.

The sign of a great song is that you can hear the words and remember its music, or hear tunesmigh music, and remember its words. This should have been the first book I bought on the subject of songwriting. I wouldn’t recommend tunesmlth book for everyone. Finally, one of the most touching finishes to the book was a page dedicated to all the songwriters that had passed away during the time he’d written the book: To be allowed inside the brilliant mind of Jimmy Webb is an absolute wwbb.


Also be prepared to be peppered with a million songs, artists, and songwriters that you’ve never heard of before. I have not finished reading it yet so four stars may well become on conclusion.
